In January of 2026, I decided to venture into a whole creative realm that I never even attempted to enter: the realm of short story fiction/poetry.  I knew that this wasn’t going to be ordinary stories and poems.  They needed to be, well, weird.  Like me.  I was inspired to go this route after stumbling upon a TikTok user named Devan, a haunted/bizarre story writer and storyteller.

Devan has a page/channel called Porchlore, and I was blown away the first time I heard her.  My first thought was, this chick is weird.  My second thought was, I want to be weird like her and write and tell stories.

Since middle school in the ’80s, I’ve always been a fan of the weird and eerie stories of Edgar Allan Poe, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, H.P. Lovecraft, and the short stories of Stephen King, so it was only natural that they would be the catalysts of this new creative journey of mine.  It also helps that I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA, so I was pretty much born into a long line of storytellers who loved to embellish stories and make them a lot more interesting than they probably were.

In January of 2026, I made my TikTok live debut to about 8 people with less than 100 followers, and since then, my Boo Crew (my nickname for my awesome community) has grown to nearly 3,000 followers (as of this writing) and i continue to write stories and poetry and share them with the people of TikTok and soon, the people of YouTube and other platforms.

I have learned so much about people, the subject matter of my stories, and most importantly, myself.  From being a songwriter for over 30 years to now being a writer and storyteller of fictional horror/weird stories, I feel like I have been born into a whole new world that I never thought I’d be a part of.  Ironically, just when I thought I was starting to hit the end of my creative journey, a new trail appeared in the fork of the road and I have decided to take it and I hope you’ll join me!
